## Headline ideas

- AI Coach 1.0 for macOS: a desktop pet you hatch, raise, and work alongside
- The desktop pet that learns real tools as you raise it
- A desktop pet that keeps your voice and images on the Mac
- It can die if you neglect it. It is also genuinely useful.

## One-liner

```text
A macOS desktop pet that hatches from an egg and learns real tools as you raise it.
```

## Short description (about 50 words)

```text
AI Coach is a macOS desktop pet that begins life as an egg. As the character grows, it learns practical tools one at a time — on-device voice dictation, clipboard history, notes, an RSS reader. Your voice never leaves the Mac. The app is free, with no subscription.
```

## Standard description (about 100 words)

```text
AI Coach is a desktop companion for macOS that begins life as an egg. It is not a decorative mascot: as the character grows, it learns practical tools one at a time — voice dictation, clipboard history, notes, bookmarks, an RSS reader — so the more you raise it, the more of your daily work it takes on. Voice and images are processed on the Mac, and the AI backend is your choice of Apple's built-in model, a local model through llama.cpp, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The app is free and includes one egg; additional eggs are one-time purchases.
```

## Long description (about 200 words)

```text
AI Coach is a desktop companion for macOS that begins life as an egg in the corner of your screen. You name what hatches, then feed it, let it sleep, walk it, and nurse it when it is ill. How you raise it decides how it evolves across six life stages. Neglect has consequences: the character can die, and that death is permanent. Compatible characters can also marry, and one trades its life for the egg of the next generation.
It is not a decorative mascot. At each milestone the character learns a practical tool — voice dictation, clipboard history, notes, bookmarks, an RSS reader, and more. Hold Right Shift and the microphone opens; transcription runs entirely on-device. The AI backend is your choice of Apple's built-in model, a local GGUF model through llama.cpp, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and every feature still works with no AI configured. Connect Claude Desktop or Claude Code over MCP, and the character narrates what your agent is doing.
The app is free and includes one egg. Additional eggs are one-time purchases, with no subscription. Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple Silicon.
```

## Boilerplate

```text
Hana-chan Software is an independent, one-person software studio that develops AI Coach, an AI desktop pet. The developer stays out of view. Website: https://aic0t.com/
## Angles by beat
| Beat | Angle |
|---|---|
| Mac and productivity | Raising and utility are one system: the right-click menu and ring launcher fill up as the character grows |
| Privacy | Dictation is fully on-device. Calendar read-outs and image descriptions are pinned to the on-device model even when an external API is selected |
| Apple's new OS | Uses the on-device model's new image input in macOS 27 in a shipping app, and counts tokens before each request so long conversations trim themselves |
| Developers and AI | A built-in MCP server: Claude Desktop or Claude Code report progress and the character narrates it in a speech bubble |
| Games | Permanent death, marriage and succession, branching evolution from 14 base species, three generations of lineage, characters that interact with each other |
| Indie | Built by one developer who stays anonymous, and the characters themselves are kept secret too |
## Q&A
**How is this different from a desktop mascot?**
Raising and utility are tied together. Tools such as voice dictation and clipboard history are not all available at the start; the character learns one each time it reaches a milestone.
**How many characters are there, and what do they look like?**
There are 14 base species, which branch according to how you raise them. What the species are, and how many final forms exist, has not been published. You find out when your egg hatches.
**If the character dies, does the app stop working?**
No. Voice dictation, AI features, and the productivity tools all keep working. A new egg starts a new life.
**How does pricing work?**
The app is free and includes one egg (first-time only, one per person). Additional eggs are one-time purchases: 5 USD for one, 20 USD for five. There is no subscription. Payments go through Stripe Checkout.
**Do I need an API key or a paid AI plan?**
No. With nothing configured, a built-in dialogue library keeps every feature working. On a Mac with Apple Intelligence available you can pick Apple's built-in model at no extra cost. Using llama.cpp or an OpenAI-compatible API is optional.
**Where do my voice and images go?**
Voice transcription runs entirely on-device; audio does not leave the Mac. Image descriptions are also handled by Apple's on-device model. Even when an external API is selected as the AI backend, reading out calendar events and describing images always switch to the on-device model. Details: https://aic0t.com/privacy
**Do I need an account?**
No. Everything works locally without one. Signing in with Google or Apple syncs characters, the encyclopedia, unlocked features, and settings across Macs.
**Is it on the Mac App Store?**
It is currently distributed from the official site as a signed and Apple-notarized DMG.
**Does it run on Intel Macs or older versions of macOS?**
It requires Apple Silicon and macOS 26 or later.
**Which features need macOS 27?**
Image description requires macOS 27. Automatic context management for long conversations and the improved dictation pipeline also turn on with macOS 27. Everything else runs on macOS 26.
**Is a Windows version planned?**
It is in development. Availability will be announced on the official site.
**Can I get extra eggs or assets for a review?**
